Atticus Finch AFI Alltime Top Hero

The American Film Institute list of the top 50 heroes and villians is out. Gregory Peck in his legendary To Kill a Mockingbird role nabs the the #1 slot. Top villian honors go to Anthony Hopkins famous Dr. Hannibal Lechter role in Silence of the Lambs.

Two films, It's a Wonderful Life and Silence of the Lambs have entries in the hero and villian top 10 charts. Mr. Potter, Clarice Starling, and George Bailey grace the upper slice of the list.

How Hans Gruber (Die Hard) could rank behind Bonnie & Clyde on the villian chart is puzzling. And Erin Brockovich on the list... please...

I just finished reading, the screenplay TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, with my 8th grade class. I didn't think Atticus was much of a hero. Why? Because, what did he do to be so herotic? It seems to me this is a mistake. In my school we are learning about heroes. This is in my 8th grade class. Heroes arent just superman or things like that, they are everyday people who work towards helping others, even when they risk their own lives. So I guess atticus, deserves this award!

My 8th grade class just finished reading TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, as part of our Hero Study. This is special for our school and part of our curriculum. I do believe Atticus Finch needed this award and for the person who replied in 2003, the reason those people arent on there is because they arent real heroes, do you even know what a hero is? I didnt think so...:) Well a special thanks to "ENGLISH CLASS"

Atticus Finch is a Hero. Why? Because he was the only Lawyer in Maycomb who would stand up in a hugely racially biased public and say "This black man is innocent", not only that, but he defended him in court at great risk to his reputation.
